Liverpool can sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria for €7m in January, with the player leaning towards a change.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say the German club have put a price on his head to let him leave early ahead of his contract expiring in the summer.
Zakaria is set to be a free agent come the summer, with his deal set to expire, and it is clear that he won’t be signing a new one at Gladbach.
As such, he is one of the in-demand players for January, when he is free to negotiate a free transfer for the summer with clubs around Europe.
There is reportedly a whole host of interested parties, including Liverpool, who are yet to sign a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum after he left for Paris Saint Germain last summer.
They’ve been mentioned as suitors on more than one occasion over the last few weeks, with it stated that they are in pole position for Zakaria’s signature, and even that the Swiss midfielder ‘dreams’ of working with Jurgen Klopp.
Well, it seems they can now get him for a bargain price, with SportBILD explaining that Gladbach have made it clear a bid of €7m or more will get their attention.
Should that arrive then ‘it is possible’ that the midfielder will ‘leave immediately’, rather than waiting until the summer for a free transfer.
Now whether Liverpool are willing to pay that isn’t mentioned, and we also don’t know what sort of wages Zakaria wants, but it’s nowhere near an unrealistic price for a player that they are seemingly very keen on.
Given the competition for his signature is fierce too, we see no reason why they won’t take this opportunity with both hands as it has every chance of being yet another bargain purchase for them.
