In the first half of the 2018/19 season, Fernando Llorente struggled for minutes at Tottenham Hotspur and the striker admitted he would be willing to return to Athletic Club Bilbao.
The 33-year-old’s contract at the north London side expires in the summer and the Basque club were interested in signing him in the winter market.
However, the former Swansea City man was forced to continue at the club after Harry Kane picked up an injury in his side’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester United in January.
Spanish newspaper AS have interviewed Athletic’s sporing director Rafa Alkorta.
During the course of the interview, Alkorta was asked if the Basque club would consider signing the Spurs player, and he said: “We are attentive to any player who can wear the Athletic shirt…”
With less than six months on his contract, Llorente will be able to move to Bilbao on a free transfer in the summer.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has handed Llorente four starts in the last five games and he’s scored two goals and registered two assists in the process.
