Facundo Pellistri has been linked with Manchester United for some months, with the Premier League side thought to be keeping an eye on his progress with Peñarol.
A very highly rated 18-year-old, Pellistri can play across the attack but has been mainly operating on the right wing. He’s fast, likes to dribble and should he move to English football is likely to be the subject of many attempts to hack him down.
Towards the end of last week it became clear Manchester United interest was becoming more serious, with a move to Lyon hitting the rocks. Peñarol wanted to keep the youngster until January, and faced with that, United are having to pay his clause to secure a move now.
Uruguay’s Tenfield reports it’s time to pack his bags. It’s stated Pellistri went through his medical checks on Saturday, and they showed ‘optimal results’.
Now Manchester United need to deposit the clause, stated by Tenfield as being $10m, and the player is expected to travel to England today. However, it’s made clear that money needs to be deposited, and quickly.
