Athletic Bilbao are expecting to be without Oihan Sancet for this week’s clash against Manchester United in the Europa League semi-finals.

That’s according to El Correo, who report that Sancet is now very likely to miss the first game at San Mames.

El Correo report that Sancet did not train with Athletic on Monday, which was the first day of preparation for the clash against Manchester United.

He is suffering from a ‘moderate lesion’ in the femoral bicep of his left leg, and this is expected to keep him out of the first leg against Manchester United. He is, at this moment in time, deemed a ‘serious doubt’ for the game as this type of injury usually requires an absence of two to three weeks.

Fortunately for Athletic they are accustomed to Sancet’s absence, as he’s been out of action several times this season. Thus, they are likely to have a plan in place to replace him.

He will, though, likely be the only casualty for the game against Manchester United. The rest of the squad exercised normally on Monday, with another on Tuesday and a third session planned for 6pm on Wednesday.
