Atalanta star Ademola Lookman has insisted he sees the positives from the draw with Arsenal, who he thinks are among the best in the Champions League this season.
Calcio Atalanta cover comments from the forward today, made to the club’s official channels, following the 0-0 draw between the two sides on Thursday.
Arsenal travelled to Bergamo to kick off their Champions League campaign last night but were unable to start with a victory on what proved to be a difficult evening against the Europa League winners.
Indeed, they were fortunate to leave with a point from the game as only a stunning save from David Raya, who leapt to deny Mateo Retegui a tap in to put the Italian side in front after stopping him from the penalty spot.
That proved to be the defining moment of the game, with neither side capable of producing the telling moment to secure all three points.
Lookman can see plenty of positives for himself and his teammates, though, believing they showed plenty of signs that they can compete at the top level, which he thinks Arsenal are firmly a part of.
“We played a great game and came close to winning,” he said.
“It was a tough race, but good from all points of view and which left us some good signals. Arsenal? A top team, one of the best in this Champions League.
“But against them we showed that we have the weapons to compete against a team like that.”
