On Thursday, Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg stated Brighton & Hove Albion are in pole position to sign 1. FC Nürnberg’s Stefanos Tzimas despite Aston Villa holding concrete talks.

Earlier today, Sky Deutschland reported Brighton reached an agreement with the second division German club. They also said he’s completed his medical tests with the Seagulls, who will make the transfer official on Monday.

The striker desired by Aston Villa will arrive at The Amex in the summer. As well as the Villans, Fiorentina have missed out on the 19-year-old.

TuttoMercatoWeb now explain what convinced Tzimas to join Brighton over Aston Villa and Fiorentina.

Last summer, he joined FC Nürnberg on loan with an option to buy from PAOK. The German club will now make his stay permanent and then sell him to Brighton.

Unai Emery’s side offered €30m to buy the Greece U21 international immediately in this window, according to the claims. This wasn’t favoured by Tzimas and Nürnberg as they want to continue together until the end of this season.

Brighton have ‘prevailed’ because they have decided to let the player finish this season in Germany.

TMW state they have ‘closed the deal’ by offering the same figures as Fiorentina [€22-23m] plus 15% of a future sale. It’s worth noting Sky earlier reported Brighton agreed to pay €25m.
