It’s been a while since the Porto striker Moussa Marega started being linked to English clubs. But now, there’s a complately fresh list of pretenders for the 27-year-old, according to reports from the Portuguese press today.
Newspaper Correio da Manhã claims that Aston Villa, West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are all interested in signing the player this summer.
These sides are said to be ‘on the front line’ to take the striker, who’s expected to be one of the next players to be leaving Porto in the transfer window.
The report claims that Dragons have set a price for Marega, which is €30m. That’s €10m below his €40m release clause, which had always been mentioned as his tag price in the past.
Marega has been having impressive seasons at Porto for a couple of years now. Just in the current season, he scored 23 goals and made eight assists in 40 appearances.
It does make sense that West Ham and Wolverhampton are looking for a striker of his level for the Premier League season, but it really sounds like Aston Villa’s interest would depend on the promotion. We shall see that on Saturday.
And as for the veracity, given half the Premier League have been linked with Marega it’s worth taking it all with a pinch of salt until something more specific appears.
