The Italian sport media have spent the past year repeatedly linking Denzel Dumfries with a move away from Inter Milan.

It’s Premier League clubs who have been linked the most, with the initial claims being around sides such as Manchester United and Chelsea. There were various values put on the transfer, with some claims even going as high as €60m.

That seemed ambitious at the time, and it’s now Aston Villa being linked, with an asking price of €40m being put on the player. InterLive report Unai Emery’s side have some interest, but are unwilling to go beyond €30m, so would want a €10m discount on the current asking price.

The 26-year-old Dutchman has scored two goals and added six assists this season, playing as an advanced right-back or right-wing-back. Those are not figures which will make the biggest clubs sit up and pay attention, although they’re not terrible.

Aston Villa looks like a reasonable move for the player, and InterLive believe the interest from Unai Emery comes partly due to Matty Cash’s injury issues.
