Yesterday, L’Equipe ran a story saying that OGC Nice were interested in bringing Aston Villa’s Jordan Ayew back to Ligue 1.
The player, who signed from Lorient during Tim Sherwood’s French revolution last summer, didn’t exactly set the league on fire last season, but that would have been difficult considering how the rest of the squad around him played.
Now apparently looking for a way out from the club, the Ghanaian striker might end up back in Ligue 1, but it won’t be with Nice.
According to local newspaper Nice-Matin, the player hasn’t even been contacted by the French club, suggesting he probably isn’t on their summer shortlist.
As things stand, Ayew is still an Aston Villa player, and if no one is willing to take a gamble on him (he is very capable of putting the ball in the back of the net, after all), he might have to endure Championship football after all.
