Atalanta could look to make Pierluigi Gollini’s move permanent following claims their current first choice goalkeeper Etrit Berisha will return to Lazio in the summer. Gollini is currently on loan with Atalanta from Aston Villa.

Calciomercato have reported Atalanta will not redeem Berisha despite having an option to purchase the Albanian international on a permanent deal.

In recent months there has been speculation the Serie A side aren’t happy with Lazio’s valuation of Berisha, and they will now to look to other options.

Atalanta are now considering signing Gollini on a permanent deal from Aston Villa or they could explore other goalkeeper options. Gollini only joined Aston Villa in the summer window, and was Roberto Di Matteo’s goalkeeper for the start of the season. However, with Steve Bruce replacing Di Matteo at Aston Villa, Gollini lost his place in the team to Sam Johnstone.

The 22-year-old has had to play back up to Berisha since returning to Italy, but could now have a chance to established himself as Atalanta’s No.1 next season.
