Aston Villa’s imminent signing of Álex Moreno could ‘make a mess’ for Sevilla as it will push loanee Ludwig Augustinsson out of contention.

That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say Unai Emery is about to ‘make another mess’ for Monchi and Sevilla to try and sort this month.

The Aston Villa boss is ‘very close’ to getting the signing he has most wanted since leaving Villarreal for Villa Park, with Moreno left out of Real Betis’ squad travelling to Saudi Arabia to play in the Spanish Super Cup.

If nothing goes wrong, he should be announced as a new Aston Villa player in the next few hours and that will create a problem for Augustinsson.

The Swedish left-back is currently on loan at Villa Park and what happens to him remains to be seen after he managed a ‘miniscule’ amount of minutes under Steven Gerrard and Emery so far.

The arrival of Moreno ‘would relegate’ him to a ‘situation of ostracism’ that does not interest Sevilla, who sent him out on loan to be a regular. Instead, he is likely to end up as third choice once Moreno arrives.

That is a ‘difficult situation’ for the player and Sevilla, who may have to look at the situation before the end of the month.
