Aston Villa sent a scout to the Estádio do Dragão for FC Porto’s clash against FC Midtjylland in the Europa League on Thursday.
That’s according to Friday’s edition of A Bola, and they say an Aston Villa official was in attendance to closely follow the European tie.
The newspaper makes no mention or suggestion of the players Aston Villa came to watch live in action.
It’s clearly not without a reason the Villans scout made this specific trip to Portugal and the details of their targets may filter out in the coming days or weeks.
The Dragons sealed a 2-0 win over the Danish club, with midfielder Stephen Eustaquio assisting Danny Namaso’s opener in the first half.
Porto summer signing Samuel Omorodion Aghehowa doubled the lead in the 56th minute and it was assisted by winger Pepê. These Porto players could have impressed the Aston Villa official yesterday.
It’s to be noted that there’s been no concrete claims linking Unai Emery’s side to any of the players from both Porto and Midtjylland in recent times.
As well as Aston Villa, scouts from 13 other European clubs were following yesterday’s Europa League clash.
