While this season has been a decent one for Aston Villa so far, there is no denying there are still areas for improvement.
One thing they need to improve is the goals from their forwards, with the Villain’s midfielders carrying the slack so far.
Adding another striker to the squad in January would be a smart move, and it appears that they have identified one in Austria.
According to Sport 24, Aston Villa are keen on a move for Austria Wien striker Christoph Monschein and could make their move for him in the January transfer window.
According to them, Villa have been watching the 27-year-old and are tempted to try and sign him, although at the moment his asking price has ‘scared’ them.
It’s explained that Austria Wien would be looking for €5m for their ‘super striker’, who has 13 goals in 18 games in all competitions for the club this season as it would help with the ‘financial problems’ currently besetting them.
But while that money would be welcome, Monschein’s departure would not as far as the management are concerned, with the club relying on him to help them avoid a relegation battle this year.
That will be of little concern to Aston Villa, though, who would probably consider €5m a bargain price if Monschein could add much-needed goals to their forward line.
