Earlier on Wednesday, L’Equipe explained an unnamed Premier League side have made a concrete approach for Mattéo Guendouzi and Marseille suspected it to from Aston Villa.

The midfielder played under Unai Emery when the two were at Arsenal and the pair could reunite, if the deal goes through in the winter market. The manager is already working on bringing his former player to Villa Park.

That’s according to Foot Mercato, who state Emery ‘very recently’ had talks with him, where he explained it to the 23-year-old that he wants to sign him as a ‘priority’ in January.

It’s claimed the Spaniard’s ‘adores’ Guendouzi and even tried signing him for his former club, Villarreal.

Pablo Longoria, the Ligue 1 side’s president, had no intention to part ways with the player in the current window. However, he could be made to change his stance if there was an offer from the Villans. Foot Mercato state the France international is valued around €30m.

Meanwhile, RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins took to Twitter to explain Aston Villa are ‘ready to make a first offer’ of €30m to sign Guendouzi. He further adds the English club have the financial means to go up until €40m including bonuses.

Emery, who has already held talks with the Frenchman, as per Foot Mercato, is trying to convince him to join him at Aston Villa.

Marseille, for their part, could sanction his sale if they were to receive a good offer.
