Over the past few days, reports coming out of England and Italy have linked Juventus’ Rodrigo Bentancur with a move to Aston Villa in the winter market.
Two days ago, Gazzetta dello Sport reported ‘the interest of Aston Villa is strong’ to sign the midfielder.
On Wednesday, we relayed news from Italy that the Premier League side are planning to make an offer for the 24-year-old, whom Steven Gerrard ‘likes so much’.
The Serie A side are close to landing Fiorentina star Dušan Vlahović. Apart from this deal, Juve chief Federico Cherubini is also working on other operations, both incomings and outgoings.
That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who state Bentancur is among the outgoing operations.
It’s claimed ‘Aston Villa don’t give up’ on the Uruguay international, who has managed three assists in 26 matches in all competitions this season for the Turin club.
The website explains ‘small steps are taken’ by Gerrard’s side, but the operation ‘remains complicated’ because Juventus have ‘not communicated anything’, officially or unofficially, either to the player or his entourage.
