With the Ligue 1 season coming to an end, not a week goes by without Jordan Veretout getting asked about his future at Aston Villa.
The Villain was loaned out to Saint-Etienne at his request last summer after Steve Bruce’s current side were relegated to the Championship, and things have gone pretty well for him.
Playing European football with the French club, Veretout even got to return to Old Trafford in the Europa League to face Manchester United.
Repeating many times how much he was enjoying his time in France, the player was once again asked by the local media, this time RMC, what his future held.
He said, relayed by Le10 Sport: “We’ll see, I’m focusing on the end of the season. I’m having a good season at Saint-Etienne, I’d like to finish well, then we’ll have time to discuss during the transfer window. I feel really good here, the club has given me the desire to play again, and they trusted me.
“I’m focused on the season’s end, as well as the club’s objectives. We’ve already spoken with the board, we’ll see come the end what I’ll do. I’m not bothered about it, only about the pitch.”
With Aston Villa potentially planning to try and convince Veretout to stay at Villa Park next season, and with no option in the loan deal taking him to Stade Geoffrey-Guichard, new negotiations would have to take place to make the deal permanent.
Let’s see what happens.
