Aston Villa defender Neil Taylor is a target for Russian side Krasnodar as they search for a replacement for injured Christian Ramirez.
That’s according to Championat, who say the Aston Villa man is on a list of targets that includes Portuguese left-back Fabio Coentrau.
Krasnodar full-back Ramirez recently suffered a serious knee injury and, after undergoing surgery on the issue, is looking likely to spend an extended period on the treatment table.
That’s left Krasnodar desperately searching for a replacement for the 26-year-old Ecuadorian, and they have drawn up a list of potential targets.
At the top of this is defender Fabio Coentrao, who currently plays for Rio Ave in Portugal after joining them in 2020.
He is not the only one on that shortlist, though, with ‘several more players’ also targets and Aston Villa’s Taylor one of them.
That’s according to Championat, at least, who say two sources ‘familiar with the situation’, have confirmed the Welshman, who is the same age as Coentrao, is on the list of options being explored.
They make no mention of what sort of deal they’d be looking at for the Aston Villa man, who has just four appearances to his name this season and is out of contract at the summer.
The assumption would be that Krasnodar is eyeing up a free transfer at the end of the season, something they’d be able to negotiate now, although whether that’s the case remains to be seen.
