Aston Villa forward Trezeguet has emerged as a ‘surprise name’ for Besiktas this summer as they plan their transfer work for next season.
That’s according to Tele 1, who say the Turkish side are looking for a left-winger and have identified the Villa man as an option.
Trezeguet is currently on loan at Basaksehir, having joined them in February after falling down the pecking order under Steven Gerrard at Villa Park.
He’s been a regular since his arrival and impressed, too, with five goals and two assists in nine games in the Super Lig so far.
That’s seemingly caught the attention of Besiktas, according to Tele 1, who say they now have their eye on the ‘star player’.
They’re planning their transfer business for the summer after appointing Valerian Ismael, who wants to implement a 3-4-3 system and sign players that will fit into those plans.
Trezeguet fits the mould, and Besiktas have now ‘expressed interest’ in the Aston Villa man. In fact, it’s stated that ‘attempts have begun’ to sign the player, whose contract at Villa expires in 2023.
Gerrard is ‘not considering’ the player as part of his plans moving forwards and so is happy to let the player go.
Besiktas, though, want to sign him for a ‘reasonable fee’, so there is work to be done on the deal, particularly if Aston Villa want to try and recover the €10m they paid to sign Trezeguet in 2019.
