Currently eighth in the Championship, Dean Smith’s Aston Villa aren’t that far off a playoff spot, as the club continues their pursuit of returning to England’s top tier.
The Villains have been in great form of late, scoring goals aplenty, including five against Nottingham Forest in a thrilling 5-5 draw, and they’ll be looking to continue that run Friday night in a tough away game versus third-placed West Brom.
While the recent weeks have been great at Villa Park, every club continuously looks to reinforce their squad, and Aston Villa are no different, as Le10 Sport claim they are keeping tabs on a couple of players in France.
According to the French outlet, Nimes right-winger Sada Thioub is the first one on their list, as the 23-year-old has been key in the side’s great form this season, currently sitting eighth in Ligue 1.
The second is Angers’ defensive midfielder Baptiste Santamaria, who has attracted interest from other French clubs of late, including Bordeaux and Saint-Etienne.
There isn’t any indication these are planned for January transfers, and the website do make it clear Aston Villa are yet to make an official move for either.
They just appear to be watching for now, maybe in case they do clinch that promotion they’ve been wanting for the past two and a bit years.
