Aston Villa are facing increased competition for River Plate star Julian Alvarez, with Real Madrid having joined the hunt for his signature.
That’s according to Marca, who say the young Argentine is on the Spanish giant’s radar, and their scouting department is ‘keeping a close eye’ on his progress.
Alvarez is one of the rising stars of Argentinian football, with a series of impressive performances for River Plate, meaning a whole host of clubs have started to take notice.
One of those are Aston Villa, who have been consistently linked with a move for the youngster since September.
Since then, there have been numerous reports on Alvarez’s attempts to make a transfer to Europe more feasible, while earlier this month, it was stated his club are ready to let him go.
That was followed by reports claiming that his agent had recently been in England, further leading to speculation that Aston Villa could be his next club.
They’ll face competition from Real Madrid now, though, as they consider him an ‘interesting option’ for the future if he continues his current evolution.
The 21-year-old has 15 goals and six assists in 16 games this season, and should he continue adding to those numbers, their interest is only likely to increase.
A move to Madrid would be familiar for the forward, who spent a month with Madrid’s youth side when he was a child.
Real Madrid aren’t the only big team who are keen, however, with the likes of Juventus, AC Milan and Atlético Madrid having ‘sounded out’ his situation as well.
Now Carlo Ancelotti and co are in on the player, who they consider among the ‘most attractive’ options to them in terms of young players to sign for the future.
The competition for Aston Villa is fierce then, and they may be wise to try and make a more solid move sooner or later before even more giants in Europe start to get involved.
