Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham United are all chasing Marseille’s Matteo Guendouzi.
The Villans were keen on carrying out a deal for the midfielder in the winter market but were left disappointed. They continue to chase him and are joined by the Hammers and Eddie Howe’s side.
West Ham, Newcastle and Aston Villa wanting the midfielder was reported by L’Equipe last week. This is again relayed by the same newspaper on Friday, who also provide more updates on this case.
It’s claimed the Ligue 1 side are planning to carry out a few sales to remodel their squad in the summer.
The 24-year-old is one of the candidates to help them raise funds. Marseille paid €12m to buy the France international from Arsenal in 2022 and are hoping to collect more than double from his sale.
Despite the player’s recent struggles, he continues to draw attention from England. Even though Newcastle and West Ham appear as his options, L’Equipe state Aston Villa ‘remains the most credible destination’ for Guendouzi.
Aston Villa are currently sixth in the table, level on points with Tottenham Hotspur, who are in the fifth spot.
The prospect of playing in European competition next season and reuniting with his former manager, Unai Emery, could convince Guendouzi to pick Aston Villa.
