West Ham want player set for ‘imminent’ exit from club – Hammers have shown willingness to make ‘big offer’

Towards the end of the January window, claims from France explained West Ham United showed interest in Matteo Guendouzi and were ‘ready to draw a big offer’ to take him away from Marseille.

The Hammers weren’t able to sign the midfielder and could make a new attempt for him in the summer.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who state West Ham are still in the mix to secure the 24-year-old’s services.

The newspaper discusses the Ligue 1 side’s plans for the next window and the possibility to cash in from the former Arsenal man’s sale is mentioned. He is presumed to be the ‘big sale’ of the club’s management as his exit is ‘imminent’.

When discussing his suitors, the newspaper mentions West Ham, who will see Declan Rice move elsewhere. They are set to overhaul their midfield next season and they ‘greatly appreciate’ the France international.

It’s claimed David Moyes’ side and Aston Villa are ‘ready to fight’ to acquire Guendouzi’s signature in the summer. There’s no mention of the fee West Ham could offer or the price set by Marseille to sanction the player’s sale.
