On May 20th, Sport reported Aston Villa director Monchi and manager Unai Emery have informed Barcelona of the Premier League side’s desire to make a formal offer for Ronald Araújo, if he were to leave the Camp Nou in the summer window.
This report surfaced after claims talked about the Villans’ interest in the centre-back’s teammate, Jules Koundé.
Mundo Deportivo have looked at the claims linking the two defenders to Aston Villa and given their own take on this case.
The two Barcelona players are said to have received interest from the Premier League, but Aston Villa aren’t considering any moves to sign them in the next window.
It’s claimed the Birmingham club haven’t thought about the 25-year-old Uruguayan and the former Sevilla man, and ‘don’t consider making an offer’ for either of them.
In other words, Araújo and the 25-year-old Frenchman are ‘not in Aston Villa’s plans’. The South American and Koundé have featured regularly this season, and both have ended up on the radar of other clubs.
Mundo have made it clear that Aston Villa aren’t one of them, and this comes days after Cope journalist Helena Condis dismissed the English club’s interest in Araújo.
