Aston Villa could be about to ruin Tottenham’s hopes of signing Mathy’s Tel as they are now interested in the Bayern Munich forward also.

That’s according to journalist Fabrice Hawkins, who reports that John Durán’s move to Al-Nassr has pushed Aston Villa to be interested in Tel.

Durán is set to complete a move to the Saudi Arabian club at some point soon after Aston Villa agreed a deal to sell him for around €77m.

The departure will leave a hole in their forward line, and that hole could become greater if Ollie Watkins is allowed to depart as Arsenal chase him at the end of the window.

It seems, though, that Monchi is already planning to spend the money he’ll receive, and they are now interested in Tel also. Bayern Munich are looking for €50-60m for the Frenchman.

He’s sparked a bidding war for his services this week by telling Bayern that he would like to leave before the transfer window shuts.

Several Premier League clubs are interested in him but none more so than Tottenham, who have been working hard over the last 24 hours to put themselves at the front of the queue. Hawkins confirms this, stating that ‘Tottenham pushes’ for the forward.

Now Aston Villa could be set to ruin that plan, though, with them easily able to afford Bayern’s asking price thanks to the money they’ll be receiving for Durán.
