Aston Villa striker Borja Bastón is set to return to former club Real Zaragoza this summer when he becomes a free agent.
The striker moved to Villa Park on a free transfer in January, with Dean Smith adding the Spaniard to his squad in an attempt to add extra firepower.
He has only made two appearances in an Aston Villa shirt so far, though, with the outbreak of Coronavirus limiting his opportunity to impress.
His deal with the club only runs until the summer, and it appears he will then leave Aston Villa to return to his former club, Real Zaragoza.
That’s according to Sport Aragon, who say the Spanish side have identified the 27-year-old as their number one candidate in their search for a striker for next season.
They report that the striker has already been offered a four-year deal at the club, with him keen on making the move five years after spending a year on loan there from Atlético Madrid.
In fact, Zaragoza made a move to sign him this season, but they could not afford his €1.8m asking price, which was deemed ‘unfeasible’.
He will, however, be a free agent when his contract at Aston Villa expires in the summer making a move viable this time around, with him keen to make the return.
