With Unai Emery now in charge at Aston Villa, new transfer targets are appearing for the Villa Park side, and that shows immediately in the transfer rumour mill.
One of the perhaps more surprising ones has been that of Vedat Muriqi, often much maligned at Lazio, but who has rekindled his career at Mallorca.
The news in the Italian media about a potential deal has a few journalists excited, as the Serie A side would make some money from a future sale of the striker.
Gazzetta dello Sport cover that today, explaining that Mallorca are ‘asking for around €20m’ for the forward, whom Aston Villa are ‘also interested in’.
Should that deal go through then Lazio ‘would be entitled to €9m’ (45% of a future sale), which is liquidity they could certainly do with.
Down their end, Mallorca ‘hope the auction will unleash’, with claims of other clubs, such as Sevilla also looking at the Kosovo international.
Whether Aston Villa actually put money on the table remains to be seen, but they could certainly do with someone who has scored eight goals in 12 league appearances so far, as well as picked up the one assist in a team currently 11th in La Liga.
