According to Sdna, Arsenal assistant manager Freddie Ljungberg yesterday watched Olympiacos in action when the Athens side faced Atromitos in the Greek Super League.
Arsenal and Olympiacos will face each other in the Europa League knockout stage later this month, with the first leg being played at the Georgios Karaiskakis on the 20th of February.
It’s reported by the Greek website the Gunners are using the Premier League winter break to get a lowdown on their opponents, and the Arsenal coach was in the stands to watch Olympiacos defeat Atromitos, thanks to a 90th minute goal from the club’s new signing Ahmed Hassan.
Arsenal will be taking the Europa League seriously as it seems this is their only route to the Champions League.
Olympiacos are currently leading the race in the Greek Super League and are two points ahead of their rivals PAOK after 23 games. However, they lost their key player Daniel Podence to Wolves during the last transfer window which could be a factor when they face the English side.
