Ivan Perisic’s situation remains complicated at Inter Milan, but things appear a little calmer.
Whereas Tuesday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport spoke of a ‘volcano’ going off at the Serie A club, now it’s a realisation that Perisic will have to be brought back into the fold if a move doesn’t happen before Thursday’s deadline.
The Italian newspaper go over Inter’s attempts to settle the Croatian after he was denied a move to Manchester United. He got a pay rise, the club even tried to sign Luka Modric as a buddy, but still Perisic gave comments to the media about fancying a switch to the Premier League.
And, when Arsenal became an opportunity this month, he told Inter to sort out the move.
Gazzetta say that Arsenal’s €7m a year offer (which would be after the loan period) was ‘convincing’ for the World Cup finalist and he tried to ‘force’ the Italian club into agreeing a loan.
Inter’s response has been that he can go… ‘Provided you bring at least 35 million, better if pounds but also the euros are fine: you’re happy, everyone is happy.’
Arsenal obviously aren’t happy with that.
Perisic has been off in training, looking for confrontations, but has met ‘a wall’ at Inter with regards to a loan.
Gazzetta point out that a loan with option to purchase is something usually done with young players looking for playing time, not with someone supposed to be at the peak of his career.
And given Arsenal can’t come up with the money, they believe it may not have been ‘true love’ anyway.
