According to a claim in the Turkish media, Gary Medel has made a complaint to FIFA with regards to money being withheld by his club Besiktas.

This could have implications for West Ham United, according to a report in the player’s home country.

Ajansspor report Medel may exit Besiktas in the same way his former teammate Pepe did in December. The Portugal international was able to terminate his contract with the Istanbul club due to wages owed to him.

Besiktas have now been given a deadline by FIFA to pay the money owed to Medel or risk losing him in the same way.

In Chile it’s reported West Ham could now have an opportunity to land Medel on a free transfer if Besiktas fail to pay the player. La Tercera say the former Inter Milan could join up with his compatriot Manuel Pellegrini and a deal may be possible outside the transfer window if he becomes a free agent.

There were reports earlier in the window West Ham were in talks to sign the Besiktas midfielder.

Medel is contracted to the Super Lig club until June 2020.
