According to a claim in the Turkish media, Goztepe are showing interest in Arsenal youngster Reuell Walters, which could eventually lead to a transfer to Southampton.
The 19-year-old is expected to leave Arsenal this summer when his contract expires.
Fotospor report on Goztepe’s pursuit of the right back and they say the Super Lig side have already made an offer to Walters. The Turkish club are owned by Sport Republic, who are currently trying to get a deal over the line for the youngster.
It’s claimed Walters has been told if he’s a success Goztepe then a move to Southampton would then be on the cards. Sport Republic are also the majority shareholders of the Championship side and subsequently as part of the negotiations he’s been offered this chance of a potential move to the Saints.
Clubs from the Netherlands and Belgium are also monitoring the Arsenal youngster’s situation.
Walters has been at Arsenal since he signed for them in 2020 as an U16. However, the defender hasn’t made the breakthrough, and feels it’s time to move on and truly start his professional career elsewhere.
