In mid July France Football annoyed and bemused some Arsenal fans by claiming Arsene Wenger ‘doesn’t want’ Jeff Reine-Adelaïde at the club anymore.
France Football were very to-the-point and there wasn’t a lot of reasoning given, Wenger had simply decided 19 year old Reine-Adelaïde no longer had a meaningful place at Arsenal.
Talks had been held with Nice, it was claimed, but the Ligue 1 side walked away after failing to make any real progress.
Friday’s edition of L’Equipe has a new slant on the situation. The French newspaper claim Nantes are interested in Reine-Adelaïde, and the player could return to France on loan.
The idea has been proposed at Nantes ‘in the past few hours’, and the club are genuinely interested in signing the Arsenal youngster on loan.
Reine-Adelaïde has an Arsenal contract lasting until June 2019, so a single year loan would leave a further year after that.
If France Football’s earlier claims are correct, then Reine-Adelaïde will certainly have to impress at Nantes for Wenger to then seriously consider him for Arsenal’s first team plans.
A loan to Nantes seems very possible, and a good opportunity for all involved.
