Mathieu Debuchy was supposed to become a Nice player by the middle of this week, it was widely reported in France, and the Arsenal owned fullback was set to travel to France to complete a medical and make the move.
It was to be the end of Debuchy’s Arsenal nightmare and give the player a chance at the club which finished third in Ligue 1 last season, a good opportunity and one which by all accounts the player was keen on.
However, it looks like things are collapsing at the last minute.
RMC report that Nice have turned their attentions to Christophe Jallet, the man who was their original first choice. Lyon were at first against selling Jallet, but things have changed, and RMC say Jallet could arrive in Nice as soon as Monday.
Debuchy was always second choice to Jallet, according to RMC, and unless things dramatically change again, it’s Jallet, and not the Arsenal player, who will be joining Nice.
