Having already sold Gabriel Paulista to Valencia last summer, there’s a strong chance Arsenal could do business with the La Liga side again, as a number of Spanish outlets seem to be reporting a strong interest in Francis Coquelin.
The French defensive midfielder has fallen out of favour at the Emirates, and a January transfer appears to be on the cards for the 26-year-old.
In fact, the very same Gabriel Arsenal sold to Valencia is personally endorsing the move for Coquelin, as reported by Dani Meroño Bori, journalist for RadioEsport and Canal 7, on Twitter.
The Brazilian defender is said to have gone to his manager, Marcelino, and pleaded a case for his former Arsenal teammate by explaining he’s a very versatile player, even if he prefers to defend, wants to leave the Emirates, would come to compete and would slot right into Valencia’s current tactics.
Perhaps Coquelin himself put Gabriel up to this, and, if so, the former Gunner should probably get some kind of percentage of the transfer fee if it happens because he’s done a stellar job.
Even we’re half convinced the Frenchman could do a job at Valencia now.
