A few days after Portuguese newspaper A Bola revealed Arsenal’s interest in the signing of Porto winger Pepê, it’s now Correio da Manhã who features a story on this pursuit.
The outlet today writes about the fight for his signing in the Premier League, as he’s now seen as a ‘new Luis Diaz’.
The main contenders for his signing are clearly named as Arsenal, with the report claiming the Gunners are ‘on top of the list’ and ‘leading’ those who want him.
Correio da Manhã points out that Pepê started ‘shining’ for Porto following Luis Diaz’s departure in January, with the ‘icing on the take’ being an assist against Benfica which gave the Dragons the league title.
The outlet adds that even though the player is protected by a release clause worth €70m, club president Pinto da Costa ‘admits’ making a discount and could let him go for between €50m and €60m, plus performance bonuses.
Pepê’s season for Porto, which apparently impressed Arsenal, has had six goals and five assists in 40 appearances so far.
