Having let Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leave on a free in January to allow him to sign for Barcelona and the future of Alexandre Lacazette still up in the air, there is a strong argument for Mikel Arteta to sign a new striker at the Emirates this summer.

Arsenal tried in January to fill the gap by going after Dusan Vlahovic, but that didn’t work out, as the Serbian decided to go to Juventus instead, who were very recently knocked out of the Champions League by Unai Emery’s Villarreal.

They have been linked with a few names, but that isn’t the only part of their attack they are looking to bolster, as Patrick Berger, a journalist for Sport 1 in Germany, claims they are also after Moussa Diaby.

For those unfamiliar with him, he’s a winger, a quick one at that, and has been excelling for the German side this season.

Scoring 16 goals and assisting another nine in 33 appearances in all competitions, the forward has caught the eye of many clubs, and Arsenal appear to be one of them.

Berger took to Twitter to explain that Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle are all ‘interested’ in the 22-year-old, who has a contract with the German side until 2025.

That means they aren’t in a rush to sell and can ask for a hefty sum, which they appear to be intent on doing.

The German journalist continued by explaining the player has no release clause, and his club have set a price tag of €60m for a potential summer transfer.

In fact, they are already eyeing up a potential successor for him in Carles Pérez, currently at AS Roma.

Whether Arsenal turn this interest into anything more concrete remains to be seen, but they are there, lurking, and clearly keeping an eye on the situation.
