Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez has reportedly left Chile’s training session due to a muscle pain, in a development that will see Arsene Wenger’s head drop into his hands.

According to local outlet Emol, the player is now being examined so the national team staff can learn how bad the injury is.

The doctors are considering the possibility of a muscle tear, which would leave Sanchez out of today’s trip to Barranquilla, as Chile will face Colombia on Thursday night.

The Chilean FA are still to release an official statement about the 27-year-old, so all the local media are waiting for them to confirm the injury, and consequently, his possible absence in the next game.

The next couple of matches are very important for Chile, as they’re currently in fifth place of the South American qualifiers. Only four get a straight spot to the World Cup, and their current position would put them in a playoff stage.

Argentina are in sixth place so Alexis Sanchez’s side can’t even think of dropping points against Colombia or Uruguay in the next two rounds. Chile will therefore try everything possible to get Sanchez on the pitch, leading to even more worry for Wenger and Arsenal.
