German side Stuttgart are eyeing up a move for Arsenal’s Konstantinos Mavropanos this summer, with Sven Mislintat key to any deal.
The 2.Bundesliga side are looking to strengthen this summer according to Kicker following their promotion to the top-tier but are limited by tight finances.
They are set to bring in around €7.5m less from TV money this year so will only have around €5m for transfer business this summer should they be unable to sell anyone to raise funds.
As a result, they will need to be creative with their efforts and sports director Sven Mislintat is trying to find ‘creative financing models’.
One idea is to use the loan market to their advantage, and one player they are eyeing up is Arsenal’s Mavropanos.
He has been on loan at FC Nürnberg since January, playing eleven league games and largely impressing.
He is unlikely to find regular game time at the Emirates next season, though and thus, another loan deal would make sense to continue his development.
That may be available in Stuttgart, with them keen and holding an advantage over any potential competition in the shape of Mislintat.
He brought the Greek defender to the Emirates for €2m from PAS Giannina in 2018 so knows the player and could use that to get him again and save his club money they do not have.
