Arsenal have been linked with Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio repeatedly over the past year.

The claims have usually come from Spain, with it insisted on multiple occasions that Mikel Arteta is a big fan of the player and has asked those in charge at the Gunners to see if they can seal a deal.

There’s also been some enthusiasm in Spain at the player’s stance over a move to the Premier League club. It’s thought his style would suit Arsenal, and what Arteta is doing there, and given the Gunners are doing so well this season, it’s seen as a great opportunity.

Arsenal are not the only big club being linked, with AC Milan also being credited with an interest in the Real Madrid player.

Experienced Italian journalist Niccolo Ceccarini has taken a look at the situation for his TMW column. He says Arsenal are ‘strongly interested’ in the 27-year-old and could therefore be a real problem for AC Milan.

Arteta’s side are thought to be serious about the player, and given his contract expires in June he’d be a potential bargain for Arsenal.
