While the future of Arsène Wenger is a huge inconvenience for the fans, with it being dragged out as long as it has, it’s also affecting the players.

At least, that’s what Yahoo! France are reporting on Thursday, claiming that Laurent Koscielny’s decision to stay at the Emirates in the summer would depend on whether or not his manager remained, meaning if Wenger goes, so could he.

Despite them sounding rather far-fetched, rumours of the Arsenal defender potentially deciding to return to France, with Marseille and their new project reportedly interested, have started circulating.

In fact, Yahoo! France claim some within Koscielny’s entourage are even saying: “Why not? If Marseille can attract Dimitri Payet, Marseille can do the same with Laurent Koscielny.”

Over the past year or so, the only other club the defender has been semi-seriously linked with has been Bayern Munich, and with the defenders at their disposal currently, moving for the Frenchman seems unlikely.

The French website appear to think that €20m or so would be enough to convince Arsenal to let their star go, which, to us, seems a bit low considering his importance and how long left he has on his contract (allegedly 2020).

We’ll be sliding this one in the ‘doubtful’ cabinet for now.
