Marseille have been in talks with Tottenham over the possibility of signing Clinton N’Jie this summer. The Cameroon international has failed to make an impact at White Hart Lane, and Tottenham are are offloading him.
The Ligue 1 club want to sign N’Jie on loan, and things are very close, but until a deal is done there’s room for others.
French newspaper L’Equipe claimed Marseille and Tottenham have agreed on a loan deal for N’Jie. The Ligue 1 club also have an automatic buying option for €7m, which can only be activated after the player features in a certain number of games.
On Thursday, L’Equipe have another update on N’Jie’s future. It is reported Vincent Labrune was in London to convince the player to sign for Marseille, and made progress.
N’Jie is now expected to sign for Marseille today, but other clubs could try to hijack their deal in the last minute. Arsenal have reportedly shown interest in signing N’Jie, but Tottenham closed the doors to their North London rivals.
Villarreal and another French club are also interested in the player’s services, and L’Equipe believe the next few hours could be decisive.
Maybe Arsenal’s late interest is to make things a little sexier, a similar thing happened when N’Jie moved to Tottenham last year.
