L’Equipe dropped something of a bombshell on Thursday with the reporting of Arsenal’s interest in Lille right-back Djibril Sidibé.
The player seemed set for a transfer to Monaco in Ligue 1, but Arsène Wenger had apparently decided to make the French defender his priority and planned on scuppering his former club.
Monaco and Lille had agreed on a €15m + Rony Lopes on loan to the north of France for Sidibé’s transfer; a fee that was yet to be matched by Arsenal despite the club having made contact with the player’s entourage.
Well, Le10 Sport on Friday claim to have an update on the situation (as an exclusive), and they claim that even with Arsenal’s late interest in full-back, the transfer to Monaco will still go through barring any unforeseen U-turns from the player.
The player will sign a five-year contract with the third best club in Ligue 1, and is apparently ready to show the world the extent of his abilities via the Champions League.
Monaco still need to go through qualifiers to make the group stages.
