Sporting Lare not interested in selling Tiago Tomas to Arsenal, amid speculation the Gunners are keen on the youngster.
That’s according to A Bola, who say while there is interest in the forward, the Portuguese side are not contemplating a sale.
Reports in England yesterday claimed that Arsenal are interested in Pinto and keen to sign him up early and avoid the mistake they made by not signing Cristiano Ronaldo early on in his career.
Those same reports stated that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta and director of football Edu Gaspar had become interested in the 19-year-old after his impressive display in the 1-0 win over Benfica on February 1st.
Indeed, so convinced were they of his ability, they were now planning a move to try and get him ahead of the competition.
A Bola, however, pull things back considerably today. They cover the reports and state that, while there is interest in the player from England, no club has yet made any sort of proposal.
They explain that, as there is still a long way until the summer transfer window, the proposals for Tomas have not ‘materialised’ as yet.
There have been ‘exploratory soundings’ from some Premier League clubs, this is true, but whether one of them is Arsenal isn’t explicitly stated.
Either way, Sporting aren’t interested in a deal anyway. At this moment in time, they are not thinking about letting the player go given he’s proven to be consistent this season and a reliable alternative to Paulinho upfront.
Indeed, A Bola make reference to his contract, which runs until 2025 and has a termination clause worth €60m, which suggests that is the price the Portuguese side would demand in any deal.
