According to Turkish newspaper Star, Arsenal will follow Turkey’s game against Iceland tonight to watch Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu in action.
It’s reported the Premier League side’s scouts will be present at the TT Arena to watch Soyuncu, who has been in impressive form for Brendan Rodgers’ side this season.
The former Altinordu defender was linked with a move to Arsenal prior to his move to Leicester City in 2018 but ended up joining the Foxes from Freiburg.
Unai Emery’s side could enter the market for defensive reinforcements in January in order to make the top four and Soyuncu looks to be an option. However, it’s highly unlikely Leicester City will allow him to leave given their ambitions for this season.
Soyuncu has been key in Rodgers’ side in this campaign, conceding just eight goals in twelve games in the league. Previous reports in the Turkish press have also linked him with a move to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
The Turkey international’s contract with Leicester City will expire at the end of June 2023.
It’s quite possible Arsenal are actually looking at someone else, such as Juventus’ Merih Demiral.
