While they desperately need to address some of the gaps in their first-team, Arsenal continue to travel around Europe looking for talent.
You can’t blame them, since that’s what they’ve been doing for years with a certain amount of success, and one of the latest to have caught their eye is Salvatore Pezzella at AS Roma.
The young midfielder spent the 2019-20 season on loan at Modena in Serie C – B, where he made 24 appearances, scored two goals and picked up one assist.
However, that’s not what made Arsenal like him, as MediaGol report on Wednesday that representatives of the Gunners were ‘bewitched’ by previous performances of his in the Youth League and ‘didn’t linger too much’ by showing their interest in the player’s transfer.
Despite these courteous advances, Roma, albeit ‘flattered’, decided to send them back to the sender, thus letting Arsenal know their starlet wasn’t for sale.
It’s not explained exactly when this happened (our guess is last summer after his seven Youth League appearances), but it does show the work the Gunners put in behind the scenes as they continue to try and find the right players for their team for years to come.
