Former Arsenal striker Luís Boa Morte is reportedly taking charge of Portuguese third division side Sintrense.
As reported by newspaper Record today, the 39-year-old former Gunner will take the job with the objective of avoiding relegation. The official announcement is set to be made today.
Boa Morte has been frequently mentioned in the Portuguese media due to always being spotted at league games, with the Arsenal connection often causing excitement in the Portuguese media about which players could be heading to Emirates.
He’s worked as a scout for Arsenal for a few years now, and has compiled reports on players for Arsene Wenger, although the manager hasn’t decided to take any of them up.
Maybe recommending players and not seeing the move is what made Boa Morte tired of scouting life, and he now takes a curious challenge given his good name in Portugal.
Boa Morte’s only managing experience was at Sporting, where he coached the youth teams and was an assistant with the reserve squad. He was linked to a Hull City role after Marco Silva’s appointment, but nothing ever materialised.
