Argentine star Gonzalo Higuain is facing an uncertain future at Napoli, with just two years left on his contract. His agent and brother Nicolas Higuain has already revealed the Napoli star isn’t going to sign a contract renewal.
Gazzetta say Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, could consider selling the Argentine ‘for an indecent proposal’, after he refused to sign a contract renewal. Arsenal are said to be ready to make that ‘indecent proposal’ and try and get their long term target.
De Laurentiis has already rejected an offer of €60m plus a young player from Atletico Madrid, but could be tempted by Arsenal’s offer which Gazzetta believe reaches around €100m when money and Giroud are included.
Napoli initially insisted any club should pay Higuain’s release clause of €94m, but that expired on June 30th and now they can ‘repel any attack’.
A move to Arsenal would very well be tempting for Higuain if Arsenal are this time genuinely interested in signing the player.
Arsenal, however, could face competition from Juventus, who are also looking for a replacement of Alvaro Morata. But then again, with the fee now heading off into the stratosphere, it’s got to be considered unlikely either club would play ball unless Napoli hugely drop their demands.
Gazzetta seem to believe €60m/€65m + Olivier Giroud equals a deal of around €100m.
