Arsenal have reached an ‘initial agreement’ with Fiorentina for striker Dusan Vlahovic but are yet to reach an agreement with the player.
That’s according to Gianluca di Marzio, who says Arsenal are ready to make a ‘major financial sacrifice’ to get the highly-rated striker.
Vlahovic is one of the most highly-rated young players in Europe at this moment in time, with a series of impressive performances for Fiorentina earning him plenty of admirers.
Pretty much all the big clubs in Europe would like to sign him, but it appears Arsenal have made the first move to beat the competition.
Di Marzio reports that they have already met with Fiorentina to discuss a deal with their higher management in London in recent days, to understand the Gunners’ ‘intentions’.
Arsenal would like to bring Vlahovic to the Emirates in January, and there seems to be an ‘initial agreement’ between the two clubs.
The same cannot be said of the situation between Arsenal and the player, though, where there is ‘distance’ and no agreement as yet.
Indeed, both Vlahovic and his agents would prefer to wait until there are more ‘important offers’ for him, even if that means waiting until next June.
That’s a problem for Fiorentina, who would like to close the striker’s exit as early as January so they can plan for the future and find a replacement as soon as possible.
They would seemingly be happy to sell to Arsenal then, but the Gunners need to convince Vlahovic into the move before they can get a deal done.
