Late on Friday, very late, we brought you news about Arsenal being in negotiations to sign Pablo Mari.
Globo Esporte, a major Brazilian sports outlet, were bringing the news, and they said the Gunners were in talks with Flamengo for the central defender. Not only that, Arsenal were said to have made a proposal and there was a ‘good chance’ of the move happening.
The only thing thought to be endangering a transfer was the lack of time left in the Premier League transfer window.
Well, Edu sorted that.
Arsenal’s technical director was already in Brazil, and some hours after the initial report he was pictured with Mari at the airport, ahead of a flight to London.
Brazilian journalist Renan Moura says Mari arrives today in England for his medical and to arrange the details on his transfer to Mikel Arteta’s club.
Moura also has a screenshot of Mari telling a friend, via WhatsApp, that he’s moving.
