Arsenal and Everton are interested in Emerson Royal, according to Sport.
The right-back is currently at Real Betis, but will have to return to Barcelona in the summer.
Emerson is expected to be part of Barca’s pre-season squad and has taken an important step to represent them next season.
On Tuesday, the Brazilian took a test to obtain a Spanish passport, which would improve his chances of playing for the Catalan club.
‘All the paths of Emerson Royal point to FC Barcelona’, report Sport.
They further state the defender has started the process of finding a new house in the Spanish city.
The report, however, suggests there are ‘some aspects that are not quite convincing’.
He will be challenging Sergiño Dest for the right-back spot. Emerson remains hopeful he can start from scratch to fight for a place in the starting XI next season, if Ronald Koeman is relieved of his duties.
In the event he doesn’t get assurances, the player could consider other options, especially since suitors are not lacking.
If he cannot be a regular at Barca, then the option to play in the Premier League attracts him the most, where the Gunners and the Merseyside club are named as suitors.
It’s explained Everton are ‘interested’, but Arsenal are the best positioned team to take Emerson. That’s because Mikel Arteta’s side would need a new right-back if Héctor Bellerín seals an exit from the Emirates.
Given the interest from the two Premier League sides, both Emerson and Barcelona will decide what’s best for the fullback’s future.
