Another day, another round of optimism from the Rome based pressed regarding Granit Xhaka’s transfer from Arsenal to AS Roma.
The Switzerland international has been linked with a transfer to Italy since before the Euros started, but, as always, the tournament has delayed proceedings somewhat.
A lot of it comes from the fact neither Arsenal nor Roma want to budge from their respective positions, but Corriere dello Sport explain there isn’t much left to do.
In fact, they state a deal is ‘practically done’, but the deal cannot be closed without a bit of cash entering the Italians’ bank account first.
That’s why Tiago Pinto is trying to sell a couple of players heading towards the exit before sinking the blow, but ‘that isn’t easy’.
The contract with Xhaka, as has been previously reported, is already agreed, and the Arsenal man ‘has chosen Roma’ as his next club.
The panic hasn’t really set in, and Corriere reassure their readers the Swiss’ Emirates exit ‘will happen’, there just needs to be a bit of patience to allow Pinto to work on sales first.
